BookExpo May 19-21, 2006
Planning on attending BookExpo? You'd better hurry and finalize your arrangements. According to the ABA, retailing anthropologist Paco Underhill will be the featured speaker on Thursday's Day of Education. The topic is "Science of Independent Bookselling: Catching and Keeping Customers." Should be a very interesting class and a podcast even if by pay subscription would be nice for those unable to attend. With today's technology, a teleconference option should be offered. Underhill was recently interviewed by BTW about the science of shopping and mistakes commonly made by retailers. While you're there, don't forget to check out the rest of the current issue of BTW.
The best strategy for attending BookExpo is to go with several bookseller friends and split up the assorted offerings to cover every topic. Now that is money very well spent!
